Multinational Security Support Mission Gets Green Light: Reactions from Port-au-Prince to Nairobi

The UN Security Council approved the deployment of the MSSM in Haiti following the adoption of Resolution 2699, nearly a year after Port-au-Prince's request for a force to support the Haitian National Police in dealing with armed gangs. The resolution was adopted with 13 votes in favor and two abstentions, with China and Russia abstaining from the vote. Following the adoption of this resolution authorizing the deployment of the MSSM, reactions came swiftly.
